    Story

Rinae is a young local girl from Wythenshawe.

Young Rinae's parents lives were changed forever when they went to check on their little girl one frightful morning to find her unresponsive.

With the symptoms she had and alarm bells ringing Rinae's parents quickly phoned for an ambulance where a quick response team attended their home and checked her over. Rinae was rushed straight to the emergency department at wythenshawe Hospital.

This is when Rineas parents knew things were extremely serious. A room was cornered off where nurses and doctors attended to Rinea and it was at this point being told Rinae needed to be rushed to Alder Hey childrens hospital that Rinaes familys world fell apart they were told expect the worst and that Rinae there prescious little girl only had 24 hours to live. After hours in surgery battling the infection Rinae was placed into intensive care battling against meningococcal meningitis septicaema. Not knowing what damage had been caused Rinae's parents had to sit and wait, eventually the doctors revealed she would have to have her left arm just below her elbow, fingers and thumb on her right arm, her muscle down her right arm, both legs through to knee amputated.

They also had to shorten both thigh bones in her legs and the muscles down the back of both legs and buttocks removed . 6 months Rinae was in the hospital in Liverpool where her parents stayed in the McDonald’s house which is a place for the parents of the ill children.

She has had to have more surgery since being back at home were they have taken skin and muscle from her leg and microscopic surgery to both arms , she has had to spend months learning to walk on new prosthetic legs and has to get new fittings twice a year. Rinae was learning different things every week at first but now she only has to attend once a month at the limb center.
