Story

Huddersfield Rugby League stalwart Shane Whitaker was recently diagnosed with a rare form of motor neurone disease.

Over the years Shane has given thousands of hours of his time as a volunteer at Lindley Swifts RLFC where he spent the majority of his playing career. Shane has done everything from coaching juniors to cleaning kit, marking out pitches, fundraising & administration to ensure the club has thrived over the last 25 years

Shane Whitaker was a warrior on the pitch never taking a back step and would give his absolute all for his team mates. Now retired he has taken the same attitude into coaching juniors, giving his heart & soul in helping them reach their full potential as players and people.

Since being diagnosed with this illness it is vital that alterations are made to the family home to help Shane maintain as much independence and normality as possible under the circumstances.

The creation of a fully equipped downstairs living space to meet Shane's needs is being designed and it is here where the proceeds from this page will go with any surplus being given directly to the MND charity to help fund research into raising awareness and hopefully one day finding a cure.

On behalf of everyone involved with this project THANK YOU for your kind support.

Regards
