Story

UPDATE: Thanks to your kindness we received a funding loan to allow us to bring Shanna home and after 2 weeks in Calderdale hospital all serious illnesses have been ruled out. Shanna's blood clots are dissolving and she's now receiving ongoing treatment at home. Thank you all for your donations and kind words, Shanna and her family have been deeply touched by the outpouring of support. There's still a long way to go so please, if you can, help us continue to support Shanna and her family and help us to reach our funding goal.

SHANNA'S STORY: Whilst on holiday with her boyfriend Joe Collett and his family in Cyprus Shanna suffered a serious brain haemorrhage. She is currently in a stable condition and the hospital and medical teams treating her are doing an amazing job but are unable to provide the specialist neurosurgeons to further treat Shanna. Initially expected to spend up to a week in hospital, the doctors have now advised that this could be expected to be over a month and as a result we need to help provide a medical evacuation to return Shanna to the UK.

17 year old Shanna is currently at Nicosia's General Hospital and is being evaluated on daily basis from Neurologists and neurosurgeons but it's essential she return to the UK as soon as possible. The provision of this medical evacuation will allow Shanna to return to the UK and receive the specialist treatment required to aid her recovery.

Everyone at Collett is shocked and concerned for Shanna and her family and with your help we would like to do all we can to help Shanna return home to receive the specialist treatment she requires. We would greatly appreciate any donations you could give towards Shanna’s medical evacuation and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.

My 17 year old daughter has been in hospital since 11th of August and this whole situation has been like a bad dream. She was a healthy young lady having a holiday, next thing she's in hospital for one condition before rapidly deteriorating dramatically by haemorrhaging resulting in four serious blood clots. The doctors here have done a fantastic job in three hospitals over here in Cyprus but Shanna needs more help from specialist people in a specialist hospital in the UK. The doctors over here have said Shanna is very lucky to be alive and this is a very dangerous condition. She’s lost the use of her limbs and there is problem with her eye sight. She has been in and out of consciousness but is a bit more alert now and she is on a constant drip having drugs pumped into her. Me & my other daughter have flown out to Shanna in Cyprus to be with her, whilst her boyfriend & his family fly back home today. This has been an emotional roller coaster and I just want my little girl back home to England. We are so thankful for the kindness of everyone who has donated to help provide an air ambulance to bring Shanna home, this is the safest way for Shanna to travel back to UK with medical staff & machines on board. Please if you can, help us to fund Shanna’s return so she can receive the specialist treatment she requires.

Shanna's mum, Karen
