Story
My lovely mum Suzanne is the most loving, kind and giving person I know. Her warmth and care extends well beyond our family. Her generosity has positively impacted countless people and families who are struggling financially and emotionally with nowhere else to turn.
What began as providing food hampers for people in need at Christmas quickly became a passion for my mum to help others on a regular basis. She realised that these people were often hard-working individuals who found themselves in an unexpected crisis. They simply didn’t have enough money to feed themselves or their young families. So she began buying a bit extra each time she went shopping to make up another food parcel, and then another, and then another and then another, and then another……
The lovely ladies on the checkouts at our local Morrisons, got chatting to mum and found out what she was doing. They too began collecting items for the parcels and for the past few months they have kindly dropped off donations for my mum (who doesn’t drive) to help boost the number of parcels she can put together. With children off school and extra mouths to feed, now is a particularly busy time for food parcel requests.
I think it would be fair to say that what mum actually provides is a ‘Care Parcel’ rather than a food parcel. You’ll find everything from toothbrushes and paste, deodorants, feminine care, and washing powder and conditioner to non-perishable food items like tinned meats, vegetables, fruit, breakfast cereals and something sweet to have with a cuppa from the tea/coffee/ hot chocolate she’s popped in.
I am here to ask you to support the families who are living in hardship and hunger in 2018. The mind boggles when we throw so much stuff away, but ultimately, I’m here to ask you to support my wonderful, fantastic mum who I am so VERY proud of. She spends many hours buying the items, parcelling them up and sending them off with social services to wherever they need to be, (she never really knows who) with love and a generous heart.
In giving we receive. Thank you x

6 years agoJust with my mum for another 'big shop' day to top up the care parcels. A conveyor belt of food and hygiene items to help those in need of a little helping hand in a time of hardship. It seems to a particularly tough time at the moment and the request for parcels is higher than ever. My mum is doing her best.❤ Any help you can offer by way of donation or sharing this post is appreciated. Thank you x

6 years agoHi and thank you to everyone who has liked, shared, commented, messaged me and most importantly of all, friends who have donated to this very worthwhile initiative. I've been seeing lots of posts about Facebook showing folks the news feeds of the same 25 people, therefore I will likely be sharing many updates about the progress we are making in the hopes that all of you find out about what we are doing and why. To make this a bit easier I'd really appreciate it if you would take a moment to share our story. Thank you x
