Story

In January 2020 Shannon became unwell, she was vomiting daily and began fainting when she stood up. Thinking it was just a viral infection or something similar we didnt take too much notice until it was carrying on for over a month. Shannon became seriously dehydrated requiring hospital admission to be rehydrated.

Interview Once discharged from hospital the symptoms carried on and Shannon became unable to keep down even water. Weeks and months past and Shannon was in and out of hospital because of dehydration, once they had rehydrated her she would be discharged and the cycle would start again.

After several months I began asking the Dr's at the hospital to investigate the problem, reluctantly they ran some tests but needed constant chasing and hounding to get appointments and results.

Shannon slowly became weaker and more unwell, because she has not had any food or drink for so long Shannon's Potassium levels began to drop dangoursly low requiring emergancy admissions for this to be replaced. This became a monthly accorance each time droppoing lower and lower until she eventuallu required to be admitted to Intensive Care as the malnutrition had caused damage to Shannon's heart.

Shannon's Dr's at Southmead hospital have been reluctant to treat or diagnose her due to them not knowing enough about her condition, they referred Shannon to St Marks Hospital in London in the hope to get Shannon some help. This was in October 2020 and to this day we have still not heard anything from them.

Shannon's health deteriorated in December 2020 when she started to have seizures. Shannon had her first seizure on 20th December and again on Christmas night having 7 in a row causing her to stop breathing. After 3 seperate admissions for seizures Shannon has yet again been discharged with the Dr's saying they can not help as her Consultant is on leave until 4th January 21, so discharged and told to go home and wait for an appointment!.

This is all well and good but Shannon now has irreparable damage to her heart, she is severly underweight and clinicly malnurished and she had cysts on her brain and liver to mention just a few of the ailments her condition has caused.

Shannon is now so weak she requires a wheelchair, she can not even get to the bathroom alone as she is so weak, her medical team have stated she is very sick and at risk but still they are unable to get her to the right Hospital because if politics and burocracy.
