    Story

Hello all, I will be traveling to Morocco in summer 2018 to volunteer at an orphanage for a few weeks, this however will involve much more than just spending time with underprivileged children, but to help by showing love and compassion in ways these children have never seen.

Morocco has its strong beliefs, women who have children out of wedlock are looked down on in society, often leading for the child to be neglected and abandoned. We ourselves are lucky enough to live in a society where people are not frowned upon for wanting families out of wedlock, things are so different for them and unfortunately the children are the ones who suffer the most. The orphanage I will be visiting holds over 100 children, some with SEN, others with more physical disabilities, but they should all receive opportunities to socialise, play, laugh, have fun and be loved.

Unfortunately, these children have little excitement in their days, they dont have the luxuries we do, they dont get money to go to the shop or toys to play with in the garden, they don't have iPads to watch Netflix, they rarely even have access to soap. Which, is where I want to help. I myself will be taking over small necessities for them, things we hope all children can have access too: notepads, pencils, books, toys, pictures, skipping ropes, teddies, dressing up costumes, all the things we dont think about twice, but for them, it would be like Christmas Day.

Not only will this be an opportunity for me to educate them but for them to educate me on how much we take for granted, how lucky we truly are. These children are the ones who deserve a little happiness having gone through such traumatic experiences. So please support me in supporting them.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, I truly appreciate all the support and I am very much looking forward to the adventure that lies ahead 🙂
