Story

Louise Klein came to Goldsmiths Open Book in 2015, joining our award-winning Creative Writing Class, and has been a mainstay of that class ever since. Having lived an interesting, yet difficult life, she was encouraged to write a memoir about elements of that same life.

With the help and encouragement of the Open Book tutors, staff and students Louise completed her memoir, The Gift, in January 2018, an experience that she found so life-changing that she is now attempting her first novel.

Having read her memoir, it was clear to everyone that Louse did, indeed, have a gift, and that her creative efforts should be recognised by way of that memoir being published. It would obviously mean the world to Louise to finally get a copy of that written life in her hands in published form, and would help further highlight the amazing work of Goldsmiths Open Book and the view that we all have a right to be heard, to be educated, and to be 'read!'
