Story

Two sisters from Co Tyrone North of Ireland have set up a charity called Support 2gether.We have done this as Una had PND illness with her both children .Una is the Co Director alone with Brenda her sister.
The support to mothers and families is much needed in N.Ireland. There is such a taboo with Mental Health in our Society and women who experience Post-Natal Depression have a feeling of inadequacy, a feeling of 'being a bad mother'. They feel a failure towards their child, family, partner and most of all to themselves.

The most scary part is they feel ALONE!

If they knew that they were not ALONE, and that it can happen to ANYONE from any walk of life then maybe this will enable them to start believing in themselves and to start growing stronger.

What we want to do is offer regular support sessions in a safe environment where they are not going to be judged , where their voice will be heard. For them to understand that Post-Natal Depression is beyond their control. Support 2gethers aim is to educate and normalise the illness which will help to aid a quicker recovery.
Above all to let them realize it does not mean that they do not love their child. We want mothers to know that there is no reason to feel embarrassed, guilty or to believe that it is something you should be able to soldier through on your own.

We want all women who suffer Post-Natal Depression to know HELP is available and they are NOT ALONE!
