Story

Sharon: ‘’As many of you know, Shelly was my best friend and top supporter of my very crazy ideas.

She was always there to offer support and guidance, not just to me but to everyone she knew.

She was a huge part of Howden-le-Wear Primary School where she opened and ran the nursery. She had a love of the outdoors and was a main part in the development of our forest school. During these sessions the children learn and develop skills that can not be taught in the classroom. The forest is a magical place where the children can explore the great outdoors.

To make our forest even more magical, Shellys dream was to have a 'hobbit hut' down there so children could have a dry space to shelter from the rain or have snack.

For the milestone of it being my 40th birthday I am going to brave climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge.

This is something I have wanted to do since the first time I visited Australia as a 13 year old.

Now it's time to make both our dreams come true.

If you would be kind enough to sponsor me doing the bridge climb so we can raise money to buy a hobbit hut in Shellys memory. A lasting reminder of Mrs Wheatley, the teacher the children and staff all loved and who loved us.
