Illogan Sparnon Silver Band began in 1976 when a group of players lead by Mr Clifford Bolitho decided to start a village band, the band purchased a plot of land and built a wooden hut that has now served as the bands headquarters for more than 40 years. The condition of the band room has deteriorated substantially and is rotting in parts, it is still usable but not as inviting as it was many years ago. Hundreds of players have been taught by Mr Clifford Bolitho who has now retired, leaving the new Musical Director in charge. Mr Shaun Marsden was given the leadership of the band and currently rehearses the band once a week while Mr Bolitho teaches youngsters in the back room as he has done for 50 years or more.
The band is now in desperate need of a new band room for rehearsals and teaching enabling the bands future to continue for another 40 years.
Please help us raise funds to support the planning and building of a new band room on the site of the existing building to keep the village band alive and give the youngsters a future in playing music with this band.
