Story
As I’m sure you are all aware my dad, Shawn passed away in the early hours of Friday 3rd July after a long battle with a rare liver disorder and also bile duct cancer.
Those of you who knew Shawn while he was going through this know how hard he fought both conditions trying hard not to the them affect his everyday life, but eventually he had to slow down and take things more slowly at home.
After a liver transplant which went very well and gave dad a new lease of life, dad eventually recieved the dreaded news that the cancer had taken hold and that he only had a matter of weeks left with us, this news hit him very hard, but true to his character, dad did his very best to deal with things in his in his own special way.
It was at this point we had our first dealings with the Cancer Support Charity and I have to say they proved an absolute lifeline to both my dad and his partner giving advice, organising the things dad needed to help him during his last few weeks, explaining everything and offering a supportive shoulder to cry on when needed, which it was. They were available any time, day or night and at a moments notice, what ever we needed, when ever we needed it. Their kindness and support made such a huge difference to us all during this horrible time.
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours. The total walking distance is 23 miles, total ascent is 3064 metres and the total driving distance is 462 miles. This will be taking place Wednesday 14th October 2020..... Wish us luck!!!
All money raised will be equally split between both charities and made in Shawn’s name.
A huge thank you to all who are able to donate.....

3 years agoIt's done.... A mammoth task completed in.... 23hrs 54minutes 23seconds Firstly a huge congratulations to those who took part, walkers and drivers alike, those that have supported the fund raising and those who have wished everyone well along the journey. Right now everyone is heading home for what I would imagine is a long soak in a hot bath and a very early night. Well done guys and girls..... Well done.

3 years agoSo we have actually worked out that the 24hr time frame is theoretically possible. Our driver is trying to make as much time up on the roads as possible and we have just had a live forecast from someone on site and it's good, hopefully it will stay that way. We are going to give it our best shot time wise but no promises as we are shot to pieces and really feeling it.

3 years agoScafell Pike is complete, now on to Snowdon. The climb was horrendous and hit another nasty storm. The GPS stopped working on the top so the descent was made freestyle in the dark. One walker has been injured to an extent that they will have to drop out of Snowdon. Everyone's body is in pain, however onwards and upwards..... More to follow....
