Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
I am a 46 year old Mom who suffers from blackouts as my body will not absorb oral iron so I have to have iron infusions and have regular blood tests. I gained a lot of weight as a result of having no energy and being very tired as anaemic and put a lot of stress and injuries on my body as when I blacked out I frequently injured myself fracturing my wrist and smashing my face up. I was very depressed and was too scared to leave my home as on more than one occassion I blacked out in public and had people stepping over me and was embarrassed and scared and my confidence was at an all time low. I was ashamed of being so unfit especially as trying to spend time with my youngest daughter would often mean doing a lot of walking and at 23stone I struggled to walk a few yards. I decided in August 2015 that I would do something about it, I challenged my daughter to go the whole of September to a weightloss challenge, I started off just walking very slowly and walked everyday in the local park walking as far as I was able then I tried to beat it each day and after a couple of weeks and halfway through our challenge I was walking with my daughter on her paper round which was a 6 mile round trip. I eat a healthy diet and cut out alcohol and I lost 2 stone in just 1 month and beat my daughter, I carried on walking then when I reached 18stone I started running just a mile at first and it was slow 18 mins/mile but I pushed it to 3 miles then 5miles and my fastest mile is 8min 30secs and I’ve now lost over 10stone and my confidence has rocketed, I have not injured myself since losing my weight and I now practice Tai Chi and train with a ladies football team as well doing my daily runs. I also had the confidence to come out the closet to all my family and friends which I never thought I would be emotionally strong enough to do but losing my weight has given me the boost to be my true self. The only downfall from losing my weight is NHS will not fund surgery to remove my excessive skin which gets in the way as it now hangs down past my pubis and when I run it slaps loudly which is embarrassing and also gets extremely sore as skin is constantly touching skin. I dont want the surgery to be more aesthetic to others I’d like it as its sometimes causing me a lot of pain when its red raw sore and even though I’m in pain I often run still even when its badly flared up because my new lifestyle change is my main motivation. I’d also be happy to do sponsored runs to raise money for other charities and help others anyway I could, I have made my children so proud of me and getting rid of my excess skin is the only reminder I’d rather not have. If you change your mind you can change your body 💪🏃♂️
