A carer is anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support. Being a carer is very hard both emotionally and practically and is often a very isolating and difficult role. Carers need emotional and practical support and advice and Sheffield Carers Centre tirelessly work to make sure carers get the support they need. I have seen this first hand during the time I worked at the centre.

I have chosen to run Tough Mudder to raise awareness and money for this amazing charity who don't shout about themselves enough. Every penny donated will help provide support for an unpaid carer - who could be siblings looking after a parent with an alcohol problem, someone caring for a partner who has terminal cancer, or an elderly woman looking after her husband who has Alzheimer's disease.

Any one of us could one day become a carer and every unpaid carer deserves our support.
