The Food Bank in Deal has now been operating for nearly 6 years, and demand is rising steadily as reported nationally by food banks around the country. Issues such as glaring faults in the new benefits system, zero hours contracts, increased rents etc are resulting in serious hardship for many people, with voluntary agencies like ours tempting to find ways to help people cope.
Since October we have opened two more food distribution outlets and another is opening on July 4th to meet this increased need. We already have a large van but are now hoping to buy a smaller one to collect local donations. This would make life much easier for our warehouse volunteers.
