    Story

My name is Shelby Sweet and I am an Ex British Army Lance Corporal Combat Medical Technician!. (Royal Army Medical Corps) 2 Medical Brigade.

Where do i start? Recently I had to have my right leg amputated on 7th December 2017 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital due to major complications, following a serious injury (my leg couldn‘t be saved). My health is extremely bad and has been for a long time, I’m in constant pain everyday 24/7! I suffer with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), when I was diagnosed with CRPS I was shocked. I was told by my Pain Specialist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to go home and research everything about it because I had never heard of it before and didnt have a clue what she was talking about. All I knew was i was in constant agony all the time. When I went home after my appointment I did just that, I found out by reading the NHS website I have a rare condition! Unfortunately I was diagnosed with COPD (Chronic Obstuctive Pulmonary Disease) on December 20th 2016 this is a life limiting disease. This makes me tired all the time as its really hard to breathe, I do have inhalers (IVAX Salamol CFC- Free 100 Micrograms) (Seretide Evohaler 250 Micrograms twice a day) and a nebuliser (Salbutamol 5mg/2.5ml use when needed) which helps a little. My COPD is drastically irritated by the black mold in my rented accommodation. I have contacted the landord numerous times about all the problems in my rented accommodation, including holes in the floor, the front door falling apart, the dangerous electrics, no gas safety certificate and many other major things. I’ve had a major operation on 7th December 2017 at 10.00am and I’m supposed to be wheelchair bound but I cannot use my wheelchair in my accommodation, due to the corridor being the width of the front door, you litterally cannot turn to go into any of the rooms. This accommodation is way too small for my needs, I need help! I do have a written report by my Occupational Therepist at the QEH stating how dangerous this accommodation is and they‘re not happy me living here but i have no money to be able to move and the council are not helping me! I have my Forces Comrades who try to help me in every way by getting me shopping or whatever I need. I’m struggling to even leave my house because I’m always tired, I know that is partly because I have Aneamia and now I’ve been diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia recently meaning I have to have B12 injections every three months for the rest of my life. The only time I mainly leave the house is when I have to attend all my hospital appointments. Apart from that I’m confined to my bed unable to move and in agony. I take the strongest painkillers there are, Oxynorm Liquid 5mg per 5ml 5-10ml to be taken four times daily and Longtec Oxycodone Hydrochloride Tablets 30mg prolonged release Tablets they are stronger than Morphine. I litterally take so many medications I rattle but the problem is my pain killers DO NOT kill any of my pain, I’m still in excruciating pain. I have been told by my consultants and pain specialist I will never be pain free! Heres a list of all my medications so you can all see what i take everyday

Longtec Oxycodone Hydrochloride 30mg prolonged release tablet one every 12 hours

OxyNorm Liquid Oxycodone Hydrochloride 750ml 5mg/5ml 5-10ml taken four times a day

Omeprazole 20mg gastro-resistant hard capsules once daily

Folic Acid 5mg Tablets once daily

Lyrica Pregabalin 25mg hard capsules once every morning

Lyrica Pregabalin 50mg hard capsules once daily

Lyrica Pregabalin 150mg hard capsules twice every night

Rigevidon 150 Micrograms/30 Micrograms coated tablets once a day

Diclofenac sodium 50mg Gastro- resistant tablets three times a day

Cyclizine Hydrochloride 50mg Tablets take when needed

    Citalopram 40mg Tablets one daily

Ferrous Gluconate 300mg Tablets one daily

Hydroxocobalamin 1mg/1ml solution for injection ampoules

    Movicol Liquid 500ml 25mls twice a day

Paracetamol 500mg soluble tablets 4 times a day

IVAX Salamol CFC- Free 100 Micrograms/dose inhaler use when needed

Seretide Evohaler 250 Micrograms twice a day

i also have PTSD (Combat Stress) which i am currently under treatment for!! I served this country in the British Army and was sent on many deployments which has left scars both physically and mentally . I left the war but the war has never left me! I was injured very badly on deployment in Iraq which is painful to talk about! I have many flashbacks of what I saw on the deployments and the shit I went through with my comrades is in humane!

i need proper medical equipment a safe wheelchair as the one ive got is slightly broken also I need a safe accommodation urgently! all help is greatly appriciated thank you..

ANY FUNDS THAT ARE LEFT AFTER PURCHASING MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, ACCOMMODATION AND A NEW WHEELCHAIR I WILL PERSONALLY DONATE TO DIFFERENT CHARITIES!! HELPING THOSE IN NEED LIKE MYSELF

My last wish is for me and my mum to have accommodation that is safe for both of us, and for me to have all the medical equipment I need. Please help me to achieve my last wish. If you could contribute to me please so I can have a life again and be able to move into a safe and secure home where I can use my wheelchair and have a hoist to help me. The daily struggle is immense for not just me but my mum who has to help me all the time! I do feel bad because I’ve always worked hard and now I can do hardly anything I’ve always helped my mum and financially supported her however now I’m just useless!

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my depressing life story!

    Stay well, take care...

    L/Cpl Sweet
