Story

Mika is an absolutely lovely boy and not yet a year old. He is so good and despite all he has been through, he has taken the pain like a trooper and is still purring away and being such a good boy at the vets. Last year Mika broke his leg and had a plate put in. It was fine until a couple of weeks ago when his leg suddenly swelled up. Initially, after x rays the first vet said this was due to 2 screws from the plate coming loose and Mika was sent home with antibiotics and pain killers and I was told if it got no better they would have to remove the plate. It just got worse and Mika's leg started turning at an angle. I saw an orthopaedic vet who also consullted with another specialist and this is the plan going forward. The plate is to remain in his leg.

From my vet:

"Mika has a fracture at the very bottom of his right radius (forearm).
I think the best thing to do would probably be removal of a couple of the screws in the metal plate that is there already, and fixing the fracture using pins or arthrodesis (wrist fusion).
The decision between these two procedures depends on if the fracture affects the wrist joint itself or not (another xray just before surgery would be required for this).
Also sometimes the pinning procedure does not always make the wrist stable and if this did not work as well as it could then going to arthrodesis surgery would be the best thing at that stage. In that situation you have gone through a further two surgical procedures, so going straight for arthrodesis (wrist fusion) may be a quicker way to a resolution."

I realise this is a lot of money to raise so I've decided to shave my head to hopefully raise the money. Please help if you can.
