I've raised £600 to Keep Sherbourne Community Group going!

For the best part of 7 years, the sherbourne bungalows have been home to an ambitious gardening club and community group. The gardening club was born as an incentive to get people growing their iwn produce and taking an interest in their gardens in what could be coined as an 'unloved' and 'rough'. From the community getting involved and locals taking an interest in what we could provide and help with, we formed a real good group of community members and essentially a great group of friends in which we created the Sherbourne Community Group! A group who wanted to take the gardening club and expand on how else we could help the community, with plans for a homework club for kids who didnt have access to computers or the internet and coffee mornings to invite parents and the elderly in when the kids are all in school.
More than anything, we wanted to bring a feeling of pride to the people of the estate, those who felt they were labeled already by where they lived and people's preconceptions. We feel immensely proud of being awarded OUTSTANDING for the last two years in a row from the RHS Britain in Bloom awards, something we are aiming to acheive again this again this year, but this is where we need some help.
Money is tight. The company who was previously funding us have suddenly run out of funds and we are left in some trouble. With not being able to afford the insurance for the building we use let alone the funds to run it, we are at a HUGE risk of having to shut our doors and let down put community. We're looking to find sponsors in the local area to see if we can boost our funds, but every penny is needed and appreciated. We want to keep pur doors open and keeping aiding the community who really doesn't have many oher outlets for the kids of the community in general.
