Otters are one of the worlds most charismatic, endearing and fascinating family groups in the animal world. Here in Scotland (and especially in Shetland where we are) there are two wonderfully dedicated otter rehabilitation and conservation charities that do very important work both locally and internationally which helps to secure a future for otters.

Here in Shetland we are privileged that our islands support some of the highest densities of Eurasian otters in Europe and to spend our working lives studying them, in particular sharing our knowledge of them to visitors from all over the world.

In doing this we support these charities with donations to help protect and look after these magnificent mammals. To celebrate World Otter Day however we are aiming a little higher, to call on otter lovers to help us raise at least £1,000. The last time we organised this fund raiser we exceeded our hoped for total of £500 and raised over £800! Please help us beat that this year- the otters need your help!
