I've raised £10000 to Improve the lives of babies born prematurely and left at the NICU of the Ghudushari Hospital in Tbilisi, Georgia.

There are no words that could fully express the gratitude I have for all of the friends and family who have supported us and our two little angels during the past few difficult months. You have as always been incredible, thank you. In particular my greatest indebtedness is for the kindness and care I have received from the Doctors and Nurses at the NICU. Without them and a lot of your prayers I have no doubt that they would not be here today.
Having spent three months in this unit watching the staff fight tirelessly to save the lives of these incredibly critical helpless babies with nurses who work 18hrs a day for a $200 monthly salary and doctors who work extensive hours of overtime without getting paid for it, I could not have more admiration and respect for the work that they do. Even though I am leaving tomorrow with a heart full of love and arms full of babies, I will desperately miss them all and can never forget the journey we have taken together.
Also I could definitely not leave without somehow acknowledging the unbelievable work they do for the babies who are left behind. Knowing that there are so many babies on this unit fighting for their lives, pre-term, under weight, physically and mentally challenged and without anyone to love them, or visit them was completely soul destroying during my time at the hospital. Everyday this incredible team of staff care for them and work tirelessly to give them the basic necessities with the hope that one day the parents may want them back, but they rarely do. Whether its because they do not have the funds to support them or the capacity to love them I’m not sure what entices a mother to leave their sick, defenseless baby alone in this world but I’m not here to judge them.
All I can offer is help and ask all the kind, generous, people I know, who have been so amazing and supportive to me and my babies, and who have the capacity to care about children who they will never know to do the same. Hopefully through our support these babies can get the medicines and medical equipment they really need to survive, the breast milk, formula or fortifier that can help them grow, the rehabilitation that they need to develop, and the special unit the head of my unit, Dr Shorena Chankvetadze, is hoping to set up to support their ongoing development which doesn't presently exist.
My only wish is to try and give other premature babies just some of the opportunities that my angels had. And in light of the fact that this is the season of good will, it seems like a good time of year to reflect on what we can do for those less fortunate than ourselves, and helpless critically premature babies abandoned in a hospital in a country with no rehabilitation system in place to support them probably counts among the least fortunate.
I look forward to seeing you all very soon with my little miracles and hopefully the small contribution we will make will make a difference in helping them continue with the incredible job that they are all doing for everyone else I am leaving behind. Thank you in advance for your support.
