Story

I will be running the Mersey Tunnel 10K on Sunday the 14th April 2019 in aid of Shiny Stone.

Shiny Stone's Dream

As founder of Shiny Stone we have experienced the financial and emotional difficulties of trying to get the right help for our children with developmental difficulties. It has been a long hard journey that has taught us so much. We founded Shiny Stone to enable more training and support to be available at a low cost. Our dream is to create a more knowledgeable community that can support each other in the journey to improving our children's futures.

Sara's Personal Journey

All my life I have been overweight and suffered from asthma. My asthma meant I was unable to run or join in with sports at school. I almost never joined in with P.E. at school, when I did push myself It would result in an asthma attack.

Four years ago, as a family we decided to make diet changes. We cut out certain food groups that cause inflammation and added in lots of foods that help the body function better. We focus on clean nutrient dense unprocessed food.

Within 7 months of doing this diet, I reduced down from a size 20 to a size 12, from 15 stone down to 10.5 stone. The best part about it all was that my asthma has almost completely resolved. Before we made the diet changes I needed three inhalers a day. Now I don't even need one! I found that I was able to run without any problems with my breathing. This was a new and exhilarating feeling that made the diet changes worthwhile. This is my first 10K run and I want to support Shiny Stone to continue the amazing work it is doing for the community.
