    Story

UPDATE: We are now providing free meals for Key Workers in our community as well. Mainly our local NHS call centers. Please put NHS and a message in the comments box of you donation and we'll make sure this gets printed out and included with the meals we deliver!

Hello lovely people. As many of you will know we set up Severn Vale Community Kitchen to provide fresh home-made food for our local community during the Covid-19 crisis, using our large scale production kitchen which would otherwise be lying dormant as all our event work has been called off for the summer. We are not doing this for profit, or any personal gain, but because we want to help and because we have the skill set and the facilities to be able to help. Our meals started to go out on the 23rd March, and our orders are growing daily. Many people have been in touch with incredibly heart-warming messages thanking us for what we are doing. As the economic reality of the crisis hits hard, one of the questions that people are asking us is "How can I pay for meals for people who can't afford them?" To this end, we've decided to set up this crowdfunding page, so that you can donate what you can to help others in GL11, GL12 and GL13. We will set up a ring-fenced account for these donations, and let the relevant people in each community know that this fund is available for those who are struggling. We will run a monthly crowd-funding appeal, so that we can close the fund at the end of each month and collect the money from Just Giving. We have put a limit of £2,500 for the moment, however, this is a minimum we would like to gather for April, which we feel is going to be a very hard month for many of us - still in lockdown, and most of the government's financial support not available till the end of the month. Please give generously, so we can feed as many vulnerable people in our community as possible. Thank you and stay safe.
