I'm heading to Calais on Saturday 23rd to deliver solidarity, love and donations to Care4Calais and the refugees in the area. After visiting Calais last month, it is clear that the situation facing refugees is horrifically appalling , many are being treated inhumanly, without any respect or care. Having already fled war, crisis and/or other forms of danger, these people need love and care more than ever, not more neglect and dehumanisation. No one should ever be made to feel like this, we are all human and we all feel and have basic human needs. The incredibly harsh treatments from the French police has been nothing short of torture, many refugees are beaten, gassed, threatened and left to starve on a daily basis, left with no accommodation or help from the state. Even volunteers are being threatened and verbally and physically abused by the French police. The aim of this convoy is to deliver donations and raise the political question of why the government has been complicit and responsible for the desperate situation facing refugees. Please, if you can, donate whatever you can towards this cause and help us make this world a safer and more loving place.
