Story
In Loving Memory of Dylan
For 27 months, Dylan faced Ewing Sarcoma with nothing but bravery. A stoic, strong, and unwaveringly determined young man, who radiated positivity and inspired everyone around him.
Throughout every stage of his journey, the ward that cared for Dylan didn’t just administer treatment — they gave themselves. With tireless dedication, compassion, and humanity, they walked beside him and us, becoming not only carers but friends.
In the final chapter of Dylan’s journey, we were welcomed into the care of Shooting Star Hospice in Guildford — a place unlike any other. Set in a peaceful and intentional environment, the hospice offered our family a space to be close to Dylan in the most gentle and respectful of ways. It gave us calm when the world had shifted, and held us in the early moments of grief with quiet compassion and understanding.
What makes Shooting Star truly special is the deeply personal way they support every family. They don’t only offer comfort at the later stages of life, but also care for children living with complex conditions — creating moments of joy, ease, and rest, while giving parents the chance to breathe, reflect, and feel supported themselves. Every detail at the hospice speaks of love — from the serenity of the site to the kindness of the staff who carry out their work not just as a duty, but as a vocation.
Rather than bringing flowers, we kindly ask you to consider making a donation in Dylan’s memory — to support both the extraordinary TYA team who cared for him throughout his treatment, and the incredible staff at Shooting Star Hospice who supported us so gently in his final days.
Your gift will honour the quiet courage, and defiance that Dylan showed every single day and help both of these remarkable teams continue their vital, heart-led work for others walking the same difficult path.
Thank you for helping us carry forward Dylan’s memory in a way that reflects the love, bravery, and kindness that surrounded him.
