I've raised £100 to support the 'Eve Tustain Benefit Fund' by taking part in Dry January!!

"Eve Grace Tustain was born in May 2016 and although she initially appeared to be perfectly healthy, soon after birth Eve became very unwell, firstly with seizures and then unable to sustain her breathing independently. Eve spent eleven days in Intensive Care where MRI scans showed multiple and severe bleeds in the brain and spinal cord due to head trauma at birth. The prognosis was bleak. Eve was unlikely to ever breathe on her own. Eve's parents, Rachel and Pete, took the decision to have Eve's breathing tube removed at Martin House Children's Hospice knowing the probable outcome. However, Eve exceeded expectations by surviving and has continued to thrive, but as a result of the severe brain and spinal cord damage, Eve has significant medical needs, developmental delay, a limited quality of life and an uncertain future."
Eve requires 24 hour care, assistance and support with all daily activities. Due to an unsafe swallow, Eve is fed via a gastrostomy and is pump fed liquid food. She has developed epileptic seizures, which despite medication remain uncontrolled, and these occur several times a day. Eve has Cortical Visual Impairment and it is difficult to say what she can see (we do know that she can see the colour red!) It is also unknown exactly what she can hear. Eve is yet to roll or sit independently and struggles with head control and core strength.
Despite all her difficulties Eve is making good progress, learning to communicate, developing into a cheeky monkey and loves kisses and cuddles"
