    Story

Showcase Sioegerdd is a registered charity (no 1125956) and amateur dramatics group based in Aberdare. We aim to provide a safe and fun environment for people to experience the joys of theatre, as well as developing their performing and teamwork skills. We offer opportunities to get involved in theatre both on and off the stage. Our charity consists of two groups, firstly our juniors aged 6 - 16 who rehearse in Aberdare Community school every Wednesday and perform a variety of musicals and plays as well as combining with our senior group for an annual musical in Aberdare Coliseum . Our Senior group also perform many musicals and plays including the works of William Shakespeare. Currently our company has been rehearsing for Jesus Christ Superstar which was to be performing in Aberdare Coliseum April 2020, however due to the current pandemic this has been rearranged for the near future.

As a charity showcase runs many fundraising events from afternoon teas to open mic nights. We also run a patron scheme where for £30 a year you receive 25% off the first two tickets for every year, as well as a thank you in our programmes. Additionally we are involved in the easy fundraising and co-op schemes which mean that people can help us to raise money when carrying out their regular shopping. As well as fundraising showcase would not be able to run without its amazing volunteers who give up their time to help out in rehearsals, assist with dressing the cast during performances, help back stage and help organise and manage our fundraising events.

Our beloved charity would not be possible without people giving up their precious time and money to support us. Your money and time allows us to regularly rehearse and socialise as well as develop our skills while putting on local productions. Many of our members have gone on to use these skills in their careers including many working as professionals in the theatre world. This is all thanks to the commitment of our members and volunteers and the support of our local community.
