Story

Anyone who knows our family, knows how deeply affected by Misophonia our beautiful boy Spike is.

Misophonia is a disorder of decreased tolerance to specific sounds or their associated stimuli, or cues. These cues, known as "triggers", are experienced as unpleasant or distressing and tend to evoke strong negative emotional, physiological, and behavioral responses that are not seen in most other people.

To put it simply the noises of chewing, talking, sniffing, coughing, breathing trigger a severe emotional and distressing reaction. Spike is unable to cope with people eating, speaking or some moving around him. It is incredibly debilitating and affects his life every minute.

We would like to raise awareness of this condition but also create a community of other young people and family members in the UK. Current support and therapy options are very limited on the NHS and everything we have tried over the years hasn’t had any positive effect. Any funds raised will be used to support young people like Spike access private therapies and build a community of support.
