My name is Sian Kwan and I am 38 years old. I have two young children, 8 and 3.

I was diagnosed on 01/17 with cholangiocarcinoma. A rare type of liver cancer within the bile ducts. This was a complete shock as I do not drink and am in good health. I did ask the GP in October to examine a lump I had found but it wasnt until December (first found in October) that I was sent for a CT scan
After 5 weeks of debate with medical teams- I was told it didn't make any difference to my treatment in waiting so long for them to make a decision (which was completely untrue) I was offered an appointment in Leeds for pre-op. however after another MRI I was told I needed chemotherapy first.
I have started round 5 of chemotherapy last week. Leeds refused to look at a scan I had in March and missed the chance again to operate. Had they reviewed the scan at that time, there would have been no growth and I would have been able to have it removed. I was told by the oncologist that although the cancer has not spread and it is only slightly bigger the Leeds team have decided not to operate and instead I have been told I may need further therapy before I am reviewed again.
But once again I am awaiting to hear back from the team. I was told that they were making the decision for my treatment 25/05/17, yet I have not been informed what is happening and the oncologist is away until 01/06/17, which means yet another week of waiting to hear about treatment offers. I do not have the time to wait.

This include other treatments but I was told that I need to wait a month after chemo and a month after to see if successful. so this leaves me vulnerable for the tumour to spread for a further two months. I am now actively seeking private and urgent medicine treatment- I am doing this research myself. It is very stressful and adds to the distress we are going through.
