Story
It's time for me to take on a new challenge! Over the month of June, I will be attempting to walk all 214 Wainwrights in aid of 3 incredible charities: Rock2Recovery, the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA), and the Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSMRA). A very varied selection of charities, all of which I feel very strongly about and found it impossible to choose between!
What are the Wainwrights? Alfred Wainwright extensively walked the lakeland mountains, and wrote 7 books detailing 214 he considered to be the best, for the view, the route and a whole range of other reasons. It has become a challenge for lovers of the Lake District to walk all of these beautiful mountains, and I first completed them in 2020, taking me 5 years.
I now want to set myself a much harder challenge, and walk all 214 over 29 days, from 1-29th June, with the only constraint being that I am not allowed to use a vehicle for any part of the route and I will be wild camping 24 out of the 28 nights. The route will cover over 320 miles and over 30,000m ascent. I am not attempting to set any records, the walk will take 29 days, and I am going to be supported on my walk: any and all company will be welcome if you find yourself in the Lake District over the month of June!
Please follow my journey, which I will be documenting on Instagram as I set off (@sianlewis7) and if you can, please donate to these incredibly worthy causes and support my challenge. I have set this up as a Crowdfunding page so that I can split the money raised equally between all 3 charities. 100% of the money raised will be going to the charities.
