Story

I am volunteering to work with a charity called the Divinity Foundation and hope to raise £1,000 to help fund my first humanitarian expedition to Kenya.

Through their regular expeditions to Kenya, the Divinity Foundation provides much needed free healthcare, education, food and clothing for impoverished women and children. Follow this link for more information on the work of this charity: Divinity Foundation

The expedition will take us first to the slums of Nairobi and then to the Maasai Mara where our work will particularly focus on the Maasai girls. Unfortunately, despite being illegal in Kenya, the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM) is still widely practiced within the Maasai tribes. The charity provides education for the Maasai communities to discourage this practice and free healthcare for those suffering from the consequences of FGM. They also run a rescue centre for girls at risk.

No doubt, this will be tough work physically, emotionally and psychologically but at the same time, I am sure, it will be hugely rewarding to be involved in this vital work and I can't wait to go!

I am grateful for any support you can give, however big or small it may be. You can help me by donating either money or items (e.g. toothbrushes, sanitary towels, pens etc) that I can take out with me. Please feel free to share this fundraising page with your friends. Your donations will go directly to those who need it most.

Thank you so much for your help.
