    UPDATED STORY

Our fundraising started when Westbury-on Trym “lost “ it’s 24 hour a day access defib (previously outside the Victoria pub in Chock Lane) due to it’s relocation. Our collective efforts with other fundraisers have now raised enough for two defibrillators but we are continuing to raise money for more defibrillators to provide wider coverage around the Westbury on Trym area.

A cardiac arrest victim needs immediate CPR and urgent defibrillation to give the best chance of survival. CPR and early defribrillaton can double someone's chances of survival. The more defibrillators we have the better!

For every minute a cardiac arrest minute receives no help their life expectancy drops 10%.

The ambulance service will only tell a caller if there is a defibrillator within 200 meters of the caller’s location to avoid frantic driving and resulting accidents. That’s why 24 hour, public access defibs need to be everywhere ! ,

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and donated. If you haven't donated already, even a small amount will help us to fund more AEDs and save more lives.

We now have two twenty four hour public access defibrillators in the Westbury on Trym village and importantly, businesses have been informed where they are do that there will be no hesitation if they are needed.

Great news! We have now raised enough funds for two defibrillators for the village to be located at the Methodist Church Hall, Westbury Hill and the car park entrance to The White Lion. These have been ordered and should be with us in a few weeks time.

We ran free CPR training sessions at the Methodist Church for over 200 people this summer including Pat Lam of Bristol Bears and Martin Evans from BBC Local Radio. You can listen to Martin learn CPR here (copy and paste the link into your browser): https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0774036
