FROM IMMY'S MUM AND DAD

🧡🎗️ LEUKEMIA AWARNESS 🎗️🧡

We are going through the hardest time of our lives but we wanted to share how brave and amazing our little girl is 🦸‍♀️

On the 12th June our beautiful Immy was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) 💔

We took Immy to the doctors on 5th June following our concerns of excessive bruising, lethargy, reduced appetite and fevers.

They arranged blood tests for the following week, within this time she experienced a nose bleed and bleeding of the gums.

On 11th June Immy had blood tests at 3pm and by 5pm on the same day the doctor called us to ask us to take Immy in to discuss her results.

The doctor told us that Immy was extremely anaemic, her platelets and hemoglobin were extremely low.

We were told that we needed to go to Wrexham Maelor Children’s Ward straight away, where we were greeting by the nurses who were already waiting for Immy to arrive. They were all fantastic with us.

At Wrexham Mealor Immy had more blood tests, she then had to have a blood transfusion and a platelets transfusion. We were then told they were speaking with Alder Hey and we may need to go there that night.

At 6am on 12th June the ambulance brought us to Alder Hey, where Immy had more blood tests.

That afternoon we were given the news no parent or child should ever hear.

Imogen has Acute Myeloid Leukaemia 💔😢🤯

Thankfully AML is curable 🙏🏻

On the 13th June Immy went under general anaesthetic and had a bone marrow aspirate, lumbar puncture, skin biopsy and double lumen central line inserted into her main vein and a feeding tube.

Immy is now having to isolate in hospital as she is neutropenic which means she has no immune system and is at a high risk of infection.

Immy has just finished her second course of chemotherapy. We now have to wait for 5-6 weeks to see how effective that has been. If successful, Immy will be transferred to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital for a bone marrow transplant when a suitable donor is found. This will take a further 8-10 weeks. Sadly it looks like she will be in hospital over Christmas.

We are closer to getting our little girl better, but it's a very long road ahead us. We'd like to thank the NHS for everything they have done so far and are continuing to do for Immy ⭐️

A massive shout out to Cass, who has been the best big brother and son anyone could wish for, his world has also turned upside down and he’s dealing with it like an absolute trooper. We love you Cass 💙

Thank you to our family and friends for all the love and support and everything in between 😘

Immy is the bravest and feistiest little girl we know 💕 even if some days she doesn’t feel this way 🥺

We love you baby girl, we’ve got this 👊🏻💖

🙏🏻❤️ Always follow your parent instinct 🧡🙏🏻
