Story
My name is Simon Minney, I am 37 years old married to my wonderful wife Elisa and we have two children Emma 8 and Jamie 5.
I am trying save my life so I can continue to live and ensure I am here to see my children grow up and support Elisa and my Mum who lost my Dad shortly before I became ill..
The day of my Dads funeral I felt sick. Thinking I had a flu of some sort the next day I visited my GP who said I should attend A&E.
When I arrived they rushed me through the waiting room and a few hours later they diagnosed me with stage 4 advanced bowel cancer.
This was a massive shock to the family as I had no prior symptoms.
A few days later I underwent major surgery in the hope that the whole tumour or some of the tumour could be removed unfortunately the operation was unsuccessful and a bypass was put in place for me to be able to eat.
After I was discharged from hospital I was then offered standard first line chemotherapy but unfortunately this treatment didn't work for me and a CT scan revealed that the cancer had spread even more.
After seeking a second opinion at the University College London I found out that the only treatment that would work for me is not funded by the NHS and I would need to fund this myself.
The cost has been estimated at £10,000 per month/Chemotherapy sessions and while I have managed to fund some of the treatment myself via family I need to raise an additional £40,000.
To start with I will need 6 sessions but in reality I will may need more if the treatment is effective.
I hope that Friends, Family and the General public can share my story in the hope that I can reach this target and I thank you all in advance for your support.
Kindest Regards
Simon, Elisa, Emma and Jamie.
