    Story

Norwich Lowriders Wheelchair Basketball club started ten years ago after the physiotherapists from the Jenny Lind organized some sports events for children with physical disabilities to try. Everyone loved the basketball sessions and so Lowriders began.

Originally the club had about ten junior members and would train once a fortnight for an hour. Over the years the club has grown and grown – it now has over forty members aged from 7 years upwards and currently has three competing teams, under 15’s, under 19’s and an adult team in National League Division 2. The club trains most Saturdays at Easton College with separate sessions catering for those who just want to have fun with their friends or the more competitive athletes who aspire to play at the very highest levels. The Club has its own sports wheelchairs which members are able to use for training.

Norwich Lowriders is more than a sports club, it’s a place where children and families find support through friendship.

Norwich Lowriders is part of Supersports Kidz Club which is a registered charity. Every year fundraising is vital to continue to be able to pay the day to day running costs such as hall hire, insurance and maintenance for the sports chairs. New sports chairs are also needed as the club continues to grow and each chair costs approximately £2,000.

I am doing this to help the team as my girlfriend's son suffers from cerebral palsy, and has been in player development since 2015. He will be eligible to join the Junior team this year, when he turns 10 years old. This has brought the need for regular funding to my attention.

In addition to this crowdfunding page, I am organising an all day music event at Norwich Brickmakers to raise additional funds towards equipment for the teams. This event will be taking place on September 23rd, 2017.
