Story

Harvey was a kind, confident, charismatic boy who brought a smile to all who met him. He was a friend to everyone. Harvey had a lot to offer the world, and a lot of joy left to know. His loss is devastating to us, but we are determined it will not be in vain.

The challenges facing children today are complex and varied and the world seems a tough place for them to be.

This will not be changed overnight by one individual thing. But there are lots of ways in which children can be better protected and supported as they navigate modern life.

Harvey’s family have founded the Harvey Willgoose Hub in his honour and are committed to improving the lives of young people in three ways:

1. Creating a safe empowering hub for young people to relax, screen free, and develop the social, emotional, and practical skills needed to navigate modern life.

2. Providing pragmatic inclusion support for families struggling with mainstream education.

3. Ensuring the public spaces our children live in are protected from violence and weapons through preventative measures such as amnesty bins, knife arches, and bleed kits.

We know that addressing these issues is complex and nuanced and there is no quick fix to any of the challenges raised.

Nothing we do can ease the devastating loss of our family, but we are committed to doing all we can to prevent this happening again to other children and their families.

To help fund these services Harvey’s family and friends are aiming to raise over £1,000 by running the Sheffield Half Marathon.

Simon Turner, Harvey’s uncle will be joined by James Goddard, Alex Aspinall, Seb Peckett, and Jason Fitzjohn to take on the challenge in Harvey’s memory.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us continue with Harvey’s legacy, make a positive difference to the community and support the tireless work Caroline, Mark and the family are doing to raise awareness of the devastation caused by knife crime.

Thank you so much for your support.
