Story
Zoe is a wonderful girl who happens to be affected by Cerebral Palsy. Zoe was born in England at the Women & Children’s Hospital in Hull. Since the first hours of her life Zoe was monitored in the “Department of Special Care”. We left the hospital after 10 days of extensive checks, as she had asperated fluid in her lungs, but aside from that we didn’t have any report or answers from the medical team.
As her parents we noticed that Zoe was not developing like the other babies, although we never had any Dr. to help us understand why? Her little body didn’t move as one would expect she would. It was after she turned 3 ½ she was diagnosed with CP & Spastic Diplegia. No matter what it was called, we knew Zoe’s life would have to change radically.Even though she started her cycle of rehabilitation at the age of one, the therapies that the National Health System provided was not enough. She needed more intensive & directed treatments.
So I googled “ rehabilitation center for Cerebral Palsy!” From that moment Zoe’s life changed! The magical words Adeli Medical Center for Intensive Rehabilitation in Bratislava appeared!I contacted the center and immediately we had all the answers we were looking for to help our daughter!
Our experiences at Adeli, first July 2014, 2nd November 2014 and 3rd July 2015, have been incredible and Zoe has had great improvements from each intensive cycle.Along with this treatment center’s help, Zoe was seen twice now by Dr. Repetunov in Madrid. He provided a surgical procedure called Ulzibat Method. It is applied to relieve the gradual fibrotomia in Zoe’s legs. These procedures help to stretch her legs and help to relieve the intensive pain therapy causes. Zoe has just completed her 2nd Ulzibat surgery and we would love to be able to return for another cycle of treatment at the Adeli Center this year, to be able to maintain a consistent cycle to ensure the benefits continue to be realised.
Adeli Center is and excellent facility and their hospitality for the entire family is very welcoming and inclusive. Most importantly, Zoe has made incredible improvements from each of Adeli’s intensive therapy programmes, and as a result provided her some ability of independence after each treatment, and I know with Adeli’s help my Zoe will be able to walk on her own!The initial experience was tough, but the impact immense and at the same time the inspiration from all of the therapists encourage and motivate Zoe even more. They all work incredibly hard, with big smiles and utmost professionalism. Six hours of therapy a day is a lot of work for a little girl, but our determined warrior always surpassed expectation of function. But, I need help to be able to provide future treatment, to help ensure Zoe dreams to come true to live an independent successful happy life.Adeli’s Doctors’ are marvelous and they have always provided tremendous family support. Unfortunately the Adeli Center is very expensive, and the long treatment is not offered or reimbursed by, any health services. For this reason I am respectfully asking for help with this tremendous expense, to help me help my Zoe have the best possibility for this wonderful rehabilitation therapy. and all the opportunities for her successful future.
