Story

Our beautiful son Ronnie was diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia (Cerebral Palsy) when he was 14 months old. At first it was very hard to come to terms with his diagnosis but since then, with a lot of support and physiotherapy,he has grown into a bright 5 year old boy who attends mainstream school. He is still facing a lot of difficult obstacles and many challenges every day of his life but he always faces them with a big smile on his face. We never stop him from doing anything, always aware of giving him as much independence as possible to ensure a happy childhood. He is contented, cheerful little boy, sometimes a bit cheeky!

Very recently we had an opportunity for Ronnie to ride a Tomcat Fizz Trike. These trikes are one of a kind and are made specifically to each individual child. This was the first time Ronnie had ever been able to push the pedals round and had the biggest smile on his face when he was was able to move the trike along himself. The special adaptations had made this possible. There was a wide seat, back and side supports and a lapbelt, all of these to ensure his safety and prevent him from falling off. Ronnie does not have very strong core muscles. There were big foot plates to support his feet and give him more stability when turning the pedals.

Basically all of these adaptations amounted to one very happy little boy who was able to ride a trike for the first time.

These trikes cost £2500 each and unfortunately this is far beyond anything we could afford. We would love to see that big smile on his face again. The trike would give him independence, he would be able to join his little brother Vinnie and we could go out as a family. He could use the trike to go to and from school and all the time he was riding the trike it would be beneficial in strengthening his legs which is a good physiotherapy.

Thank you so much for reading our story and thank you for helping to make Ronnie's dream come true.
