Simon is a fit and healthy 57-year-old dad and granddad! He lives on the Isle of Wight and he's been a ships master/captain and has sailed the seas all his life! In March 2018 he started to have problems with his sight and severe headaches, we all thought he needed to get his eyes tested until more severe headaches came and a brain scan confirmed our worst fears; he had a brain tumour.

As a family we began working with Simon’s NHS team to work towards a treatment plan. Simon had surgery which removed an amazing 90% of the tumour; little did we know that the tumour was to be diagnosed as a grade 4, fast growing brain tumour, the worst you can get! Up until this point we had hoped that it was benign or at least a slow growing cancer but Simon’s life and our lives changed the moment we received the diagnosis. We were now entering the unknown world of cancer. The dreaded C word came knocking on our door in the most aggressive form. Cancer doesn’t hold back on race, ethnicity, age or social class.

Simon has now undergone intense radiotherapy and chemotherapy, however life expectancy for a grade 4 brain tumour is 1 year, we are running out of time to help him. The amazing NHS does not have any other tricks up its sleeve for us. Our only option is to self-fund immunotherapy – the DCVax-L for Glioblastoma multiforme vaccine injection. This vaccine is made specially for Simon based on the tumour that was removed, the vaccine will give Simon more precious time to enjoy his grandchildren and get back to being on the sea.

It costs around £250,000. We are trying to get this vaccine for Simon to have ASAP and we urgently need your help.
