Siobhan’s Big Match, Saturday 2nd September 2017

On 1st May 2015 a beautiful angel was born, Siobhan Margaret Mather. She bought fun and feistiness with her independent character to everyone around her. On 1st July 2017, aged just 2, Siobhan became lethargic and was taken to her GP. After being referred to Barnet General Hospital, it was discovered she had a tumour. She was transferred to Great Ormond Street where she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare child cancer. Neuroblastoma is a very rare cancer and only 100 children per year are diagnosed in the U.K. Siobhan is currently undergoing treatment at the amazing GOSH.

Siobhan's nearest and dearest's selfless first reaction to this shocking news was to raise awareness and funding for research into neuroblastoma. They decided to take part in a charity 10k run in Regents Park on 20th August. The team comprises of her auntie and uncle Kathryn and David, her godparents Emma and Daniel and her cousins Emma and Abigail. To date they have raised £7k for the charity, Neuroblastoma UK.

We at Albanian FC, where Siobhan’s Uncle David is a 25 year stalwart, are raising money for the family themselves. Cancer charity Clic Sargent reports that costs can spiral when a child is diagnosed with cancer, with £600 being an average additional monthly expenditure. Travel to and from medical appointments, food away from home and time away from work, all add to this pressure.

On Saturday 2nd September 2017, Albanian FC’s over-35 Veterans Team take on the clubs 2nd XI in a friendly game to raise funds for Siobhan’s family. Entrance on the day is £10 and includes a £5 raffle ticket. (£5 raffle tickets are also available separately.) The raffle will be drawn at the social event afterwards at Toolans Pubic House, High Road North Finchley, N12 . Prizes include:
