Story

I'm raising £5,000 for the first phase of our work: a comprehensive, on-the-ground Report and Assessment of Assistance for a project called Khmer Global Rebuilding Initiative, Our organisation is called Kapir which also means Protect in Khmer

KAPIR FOUNDATION (ការពារ)

Khmer Aid and Protection through Integrated Rebuilding

Our Story: From Crisis to a Plan of Action

The 2025 border conflict has torn apart the lives of over 134,000 Cambodian civilians. Families who once lived in precarious stability have been forced to flee, leaving behind homes, livelihoods, and their sense of security. This crisis didn't just destroy structures; it shattered communities.

At the KAPIR FOUNDATION (ការពារ) , our name means "to protect," and that is our mission. We are launching the Khmer Global Rebuilding Initiative to guide displaced families from emergency shelter to sustainable, resilient communities.

But before we can break ground, we must have a plan. A plan that is not designed from afar, but one built on the ground, by the people who know this land and these communities best.

That’s where you come in.

We need to raise $5,000 to fund the most critical first phase of our work: a comprehensive, on-the-ground Report and Assessment of Assistance. This is not a desk exercise. It is a mission to listen, to see, and to prepare.

The Mission: What Your $5,000 Will Do

We will deploy a team of local Cambodian consultants—engineers, community organizers, and humanitarian experts—to the affected border regions. They will work directly with displaced families to gather the vital information needed to build an effective, dignified, and sustainable rebuilding program.

Your donation will fund:

1. Hiring Local Expertise ($3,000): We will contract 2-3 experienced Cambodian consultants. They bring essential language skills, cultural understanding, and existing relationships with local authorities and communities. This ensures our response is appropriate and welcomed, not imposed.

2. Field Travel & Logistics ($1,000): To reach remote displacement sites, we need to cover transportation costs, allowing our team to visit families where they are.

3. Community Engagement & Translation ($500): We will facilitate focus group discussions and surveys, ensuring we hear from the most vulnerable—women, the elderly, and displaced youth. This includes translating findings for international partners and donors.

4. Report Production & Initial Framework ($500): The findings will be compiled into a detailed assessment report. This document will be the blueprint for the Khmer Global Rebuilding Initiative, outlining:

· Actual Needs: Not assumptions, but the real priorities of the families (e.g., secure land tenure, materials for core homes, livelihood support).

· Site Assessments: Identifying safe, suitable land for transitional and permanent communities.

· Community Profiles: Understanding the skills, social structures, and aspirations within each displaced group.

The Bigger Picture: The Khmer Global Rebuilding Initiative

This $5,000 assessment is the foundation upon which everything else will be built. By funding this first step, you are ensuring that our larger, multi-phase plan is rooted in reality.

· Phase 1 (Emergency): We can’t distribute effective shelter kits until we know exactly what materials are locally available and what families already possess.

· Phase 2 (Transitional Housing): We can’t build culturally appropriate core homes until local consultants work with communities to finalize designs that respect Khmer traditions while improving resilience.

· Phase 3 (Permanent Rebuilding): We can’t advocate for land rights without a clear understanding of the legal and customary land tenure issues on the ground.

Without this assessment, we risk wasting resources on solutions that don't fit. With it, we guarantee that every dollar raised later will be spent wisely, effectively, and with the full participation of the Khmer people we aim to serve.

Why KAPIR FOUNDATION?

We are committed to integrated rebuilding. We don't just build houses; we rebuild hope by integrating housing with water, sanitation, livelihood support, and land rights advocacy. Our approach is community-led, and it starts by listening. This assessment embodies that commitment.

The situation is urgent. The need is immense. But with a smart, informed start, we can turn this moment of profound loss into an opportunity for sustainable renewal.

Please, donate today. Help us take the first, most important step toward Rebuilding Home and Restoring Hope for displaced Khmer families.
