    Story

The Hackney French Youth Theatre is a unique project that inspires young people to develop their confidence in speaking French through a broad range of opportunities in theatre.

We work with children of different backgrounds whose love for theatre encourages to explore language learning. We are passionate about this work as we understand that the reason for a high rate of drop out in Modern and Foreign Language Learning among young people is a lack of motivation. This is really sad given the amount the government has invested in MFL.

We aim to improve achievement in this neglected subject area, thus providing great future opportunities for the children.

We are fund raising to support a bilingual performance of "Sister Act" in 2017 to be carried out with a combination of children from the Hackney French Youth Theatre Group and children from the Centre Des Arts Vivant in Paris.

The children will spend 4 full days rehearsing for the show which will performed in a French and English venue over the course of the year. We are convinced this experience, which would other wise be inaccessible to some of our kids will make a huge difference.

The funds will cover accommodation and subsistence of 10 children over 4 days at £50/day/child as well as supporting 2 animators to work with them over the 4 days at £50/day.

We have already secured transportation costs from Eurostar.
