I have decided to start fundraising to help some families and children caught between war, curruption and the self-serving decisions of greedy polititians within Kurdistan, Northern Region of Iraq. I feel that the poverty and living standards in this area of the world are disregarded by the world. There are many official charities supporting other countries affected by poverty but Kurdistan is not one of them. There are thousands of children sleeping on the streets and begging while we sit in our warm homes eating whatever we want whenever we want. The situation in Kurdistan is that people who are employed by the public sector are attending to their jobs every single day, they are fulfilling their duties without being paid their wages. On average people will recieve up to 1/4 of their wages every few months!!!! bearing in mind that this is a region floating on Oil, Iraq has the fifth largest Oil reserves in the world followed by Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Russia. The Governmenr is pocketing all the money leaving families torn, unable to pay their rent or feed their children.

Unfortunately, I know we will not be able to house the kids on the streets or feed them everyday but we can do something to put a smile on these children and families’ faces even if it is for one day. We may begin with something as little as buying them a meal to clothing the children in the streets. We can even help some families pay a month’s rent or help them buy school uniform for their kids.
