Weʼre raising £25,000 to help Skegness Natureland Seal Sanctuary survive COVID-19, and continue our seal rescue work for years to come!

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Story

Skegness Natureland Seal Sanctuary has been dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned and injured baby seals, since opening in 1965. It is a family-run business, with 3 generations of the Yeadon family managing the site. Over the last 55 years, over 875 pups have successfully been released back into the sea by the dedicated team, and given a second chance at life in the wild. Each seal that Natureland rescues costs approximately £2000 to fully rehabilitate, and with the number of seals being rescued increasing every year (over 60 so far from July 2019 to present day), it is a very costly endeavour.

As Natureland does not receive any exterior grants or funding from the government, it relies purely on visitors to the site and their kind donations to continue the rescue work that we do. In order to attract visitors, Natureland provides an educational and enjoyable day out, with an interesting collection of animals to see.

Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, Natureland has unfortunately had to close to the public, meaning it's only form of income has stopped. However, the animals still need feeding and caring for, and the seals still need rescuing, so Natureland faces a severe financial crisis. Each week, Natureland spends over £7000 on caring for it's animals, ensuring that they have a great quality of life. This huge weekly cost is now a major threat to Natureland's survival. And this is where you can help! By kindly donating to Skegness Natureland's COVID-19 Fundraiser, you are actively helping to keep the high quality of care to these animals going, and ensuring that Natureland can continue to provide help for the seal pups that wash up along the Lincolnshire coastline. The money you give will go towards the ongoing care for the animals, including their food (including our weekly £300+ frozen fish bill), medication and treatment for the seals that are rescued, and ensuring their environmental needs are met.

Any donation, no matter the value, is vastly appreciated by the Yeadon family and all of Natureland's dedicated staff, so if you can help, please do so, and we can ensure that Natureland is back up and running when this uncertain and scary time is over!
