    Story

    What is Skidaddle?

Skidaddle is a fantastic initiative and is addressing so many needs.

Skidaddle is a charitable social enterprise which was set up by Maz Wyllie in 2013.

Obesity and poor mental health are two of the main issues facing our communities today.  Exercise and outdoor activities have been proven to help combat these problems and Maz has used her experience in voluntary sector management and health and fitness to build an organisation to promote the extensive benefits of outdoor sport.

We believe Skidaddle events play a key part in contributing to the improved mental health of people in Scotland.

Skidaddle is based in Central Scotland and runs outdoor sporting events for all. Over the last 5 years, it has touched the lives of thousands of people, many of whom have lost significant amounts of weight by taking up running or cycling or have used outdoor sport to address mental health issues.

I lost 10 stone in weight so I could take part in my first Skidaddle event.

To date Skidaddle has organised over 60 events including 5K & 10K races, hill races, mountain bike events, triathlons, duathlons, ultra-marathons, family challenges, river festivals and more.  These events have attracted over 15,000 participants from 12 different countries.

Thank you for an amazing event. It was so well organised and your marshals were great.

Why are we asking for your support?

All of Skidaddle’s achievements have been reached with a great team of volunteers and only one employee. Unfortunately, relying on volunteers and goodwill is not a sustainable, long term strategy. Maz and the volunteer Board of Directors have developed a business plan which will allow Skidaddle to grow and become sustainable by the end of 2019. This needs an initial investment by the end of 2017 and that is why we are asking for your help.

Your event got me back into running again. I haven’t run for 10 years. Thank you.

Your donation will help Skidaddle to grow its staff team and to create more events and deliver increased benefits across the whole country.  Skidaddle is making a huge difference already, to event participants, to volunteers and to local communities.

My daughter has a heart condition but Skidaddle events got her active”

Your donation will enable us to continue to provide this fantastic service and expand our events and the benefits that they create.

Thankyou so much for supporting Skidaddle. Your donation is being returned to you as we did not reach our funding target. Skidaddle activities are now on hold but we are looking into the feasibility of relaunching in the future. If you would like to be involved in this process please email maz@skidaddle.org. Many many thanks again. Maz and the Skidaddle team.
