    Story

Our cat Skittles went missing for 2 days at the beginning of June, thankfully he made it back home 2 days later, but with significant injuries. He was rushed to the vets within half an hour of making it home and kept in overnight. His front left leg was broken in 2 places and a toe on his right foot was damaged beyond repair.

The vets worked overnight to stabilise him enough for surgery. He has undergone two separate surgeries, one to amputate the toe, and another a few days later to put a plate in his leg to fix the two broken bones. All together he spent 8 days at the vets being cared for until he was strong enough to come home. It is now 3 weeks later and his stitches have come out, but he still has another 4 weeks of crate rest before he goes back for another check to see how his leg has healed.

Unfortunately due to some medication he had to have post surgery he has been left with a head tilt and weakened back legs which is causing him to stagger and fall, this is very distressing for him and us as his family to see him suffering like this.

The incident that caused his injuries, we will never know for sure what happened to our lovely sweet, loving and friendly young boy, but the vets think it was caused by someone throwing a hard object, such as a brick at him. I cannot understand how someone could be so cruel to an animal as sweet and loving as our boy, and hate to think of the pain he went through in order to get himself back home.

We are truly grateful for the care the vets have given him and can only say that although we do not have the funds to pay the bill outright, there was never any question that he would not be given the treatment he needed. He is part of the family and as such there was no option, the decision to go ahead with his best option (the plate) was an easy one.

Some of our friends have started to fund raise to help us with the expenses for him and we also want to do what we can, as without this it will take a very long time for us to clear the bill.

All we ask is that if everyone that reads this post can donate just £1 towards our target, we will get there eventually. If by some chance we break our target we would like to donate any remaining funds to others in need to help with unexpected vet bills.

Here he is just back from the vets, with a very swollen foot on the broken leg and covered in stiches. He was on lots of pain meds but even through all this he has never complained and still been purring and sweet natured.

We will update on his progress and would like to thank you all for taking the time to read Skittles story and if you are able to make any kind of donation however small, we are eternally grateful for your support.

    Thank you Skittles family Xx
