Story

On the 16th June 2024, my Godson, Archie Oliver, tragically died from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) at just three months old.

His life was short, but his memory will live on through us all.

His mum Emily, his dad George, and his family and friends are setting up a new charity called The Baby Loss Club. Created after the sudden loss of Archie, it addresses the absence of support and community for anyone affected by baby loss. Their mission is to ensure no one feels alone, invisible or unsupported, and ultimately, they aim to fund 1 million free therapy sessions for those affected by baby loss.

Archie will inspire us all in different ways. He is the reason I am taking on my next challenge, my way of continuing his legacy.

On the 16th September 2025, I will attempt to break the world record for running a marathon at the highest altitude, on Mount Uturunco, which spans 6,000+ metres high. With a strong possibility of altitude sickness affecting me from 2,500m, and unpredictable weather conditions. The summit temperature of the mountain of recent has been as low as -34°C, with 100km/h winds. Experts estimate the extreme conditions could slow me to just 1–2 kilometres in an hour…this challenge comes with so much uncertainty.

But my ‘WHY’ is clear. Just like grief, climbing feels overwhelming, difficult, and at times impossible. Archie’s legacy is about showing what can come from adversity. His passing is a tragedy, but his legacy will be a celebration, one with meaning that will impact lives for years to come.

The grief we feel will never go away, but life is precious and together we choose to honour Archie by making our time count and helping as many people as possible.

Thank you for any donation you can give. Every penny counts, and your support will carry me through the toughest moments of the climb.

Together we can achieve the impossible.
