Our why
Mental health issues among the emergency services and veteran community are a common occurrence in today's society. Although there has been great progress in getting help for these amazing individuals, there is still a long way to go. There is a substantially increased risk of PTSD and other common mental health disorders as a result of traumatic exposures in the line of duty. The most common among service leavers according to research are alcohol abuse, depression, and anxiety disorders. Our past 3 world records saw us raise a substantial amount of funds for Rock2Recovery and other charities and we could see that our efforts were having a huge impact on the lives of others, not just the recipients of help from these charities, but people who have followed our progress.
As a team, we want to be able to help local community programs that assist with overcoming these disorders as they are very close to all our hearts. Many of the team members have received some form of assistance in the past with their own mental health. There are 3 fantastic programs that we feel could benefit from funding, who do amazing things for these groups that we feel need help the most.
