Story
Sleeping With Angels is a small voluntary community group who want to make a difference. Supporting families who experience the heart-wrenching loss of a baby, we lovingly sew burial gowns, cribs, wraps, cold-cot liners, blankets and mementos for babies who sadly pass away in hospital. Our gifts help families say their final ‘goodbye’ and offer a small but meaningful gesture of love and remembrance.
In addition, we also gift critically unwell children with knitted and crocheted blankets, hats and trauma teddies, as well incubator covers - providing love and comfort during their greatest challenges.
Every item is handmade by volunteers and donated free of charge to London hospitals; A&E, maternity and neonatal units including, Paediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Transfer Services, who distribute the items to families in need.
Monetary donations help us purchase essential supplies such as fabric, yarns, and notions, postage etc. ensuring we can continue our work. While financial support is vital, we warmly welcome knitters, sewers, and creatives of all kinds—to join our monthly community group for tea, coffee, and conversation. We are a small, friendly, and inclusive group, and our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Their time and talents make it possible for us to support families in need, and we are deeply grateful for their contributions.
We also rely on donated wedding gowns, which our team lovingly transform into angel gowns and cribs. If you would like to contribute a gown or learn more about tangible donations—or if you’d simply like to join our community group—we’d love to hear from you.
