Story
In September 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy and radiotherapy. I was very lucky to be diagnosed early and received excellent care and support.
I found exercise was a vital part in my physical and mental recovery. As a qualified Pilates instructor I underwent further training to specialise in Women's Wellness and Breast Cancer Rehab. I am now passionate about helping others to assist them to regain the mobility lost with surgery and treatments.
Myself and my Daughter Emily, a qualified Physiotherapist, will be hosting a number of Women Wellness Workshops. These workshops will include a presentation on the importance of women participating in regular exercise, focusing on specific issues such as lower back pain, body image, stress/anxiety and general rehabiliation following serious illnesses such as cancer.
The gentle Pilates class which follows will be suitable for all levels and will include stretches and a relaxation.
All donations and proceeds from the workshops will go to CANsupport. CANsupport is a registered cancer charity based at the Delamere Centre in Halton Hospital. It provides help with practical issues and funds courses, counselling sessions and other complementary services, to help people get on with their lives both during and after treatment.
