Story
After the huge success of our 2025 week long residential Farms for City Children trip to Wick Court Farm, we are fundraising this year to do it all again!
As part of our fundraising efforts, we will be challenging ourselves to complete the The Ullswater Way Walk on 13/12/25.
The Ullswater Way is a 20.2 mile (32.5km) circular route around Ullswater, with a total elevation gain of 1,105 metres. It is estimated this will take us 10-11hours to complete.
Farms for City Children is a charity which enables children who live in the City, to experience the adventure of working together on a farm in the heart of the British countryside.
During the week, children will be immersed in the practical and meaningful farming tasks of the day, such as: feeding rare-breeds poultry and collecting eggs, grooming horses, feeding dairy calves, herding sheep and halter training lambs, feeding and weighing pigs, Forest School activities like den building and fire lighting and many, many more.
We are hoping that this will be a visit, that builds our student’s self-confidence and self-worth as they work as a team on the farm. It will be a visit full of fun, and for many, a once in a life time opportunity
Any contributions you can make would be very much appreciated!
Thank you in advance,
Katy Tinman, Nicola Doherty, Bernie Roddam and Jamie Young
