Story

A future on her Feet...

Meet Rosie a fiercely independent, courageous, and awe-inspiring 4-year-old who, without realising it, has already been through so much in her short life. Years of scans, blood tests, and appointments have shaped her journey, yet she faces every challenge with the biggest smile and a spirit that lights up every room. Her personality is infectious, and her strength and resilience inspire everyone who meets her.

While Rosie shows many of the symptoms of Cerebral Palsy, she has not been formally diagnosed. Her current diagnosis is Global Developmental Delay, which affects her muscle control and movement, especially in her legs. Everyday tasks that most take for granted -standing, walking, balancing are real challenges for her.

Despite these challenges, Rosie is making incredible progress. She is starting to walk short distances independently, but she still relies on walkers and walking sticks. Her ongoing physiotherapy, combined with support at home and at school, helps her grow stronger every day.

In 2025, we began exploring the possibility of life-changing surgery called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). This procedure has the potential to reduce the tightness in her lower limbs, allow her feet to rest flat, strengthen her muscles, and give her the best chance of living a life of independence. Rosie has been accepted as a good candidate, with surgery provisionally scheduled for May/June 2026.

Although consultants and specialists across several disciplines agree that SDR would be hugely beneficial, Rosie does not meet the NHS’s strict funding criteria. While this is both upsetting and frustrating, we are determined to give her the opportunity she deserves. With your support, we can help Rosie take these life-changing steps toward strength, freedom, and independence.

Every donation will go directly towards funding Rosie’s surgery and ongoing private physiotherapy, helping her make the most of her recovery. We are so grateful to have you join us on this long road to Rosie’s independence, her freedom to explore, run, and play like every child deserves.

Between now and Rosie’s surgery, we are starting a heartfelt fundraising journey. Every event, challenge, and donation brings us closer, and we are so grateful for your support, encouragement, and ideas along the way.
